The American Kennel Club Gazette, The Official Journal for the Sport of Purebred Dogs which has been continually published since 1889, swept the annual Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA) awards dinner last night, taking home a total of seven awards:
- Best All Breed Magazine – AKC Gazette
- Best Special Publication – AKC Gazette special issue – “Dogs in Art”
- Best Short Fiction – by Gina Mireault in AKC Gazette – “Illusions”
- Best Magazine: Feature in All Breed Magazine – by Deborah Wood in AKC Gazette “From Terrified to Terrific”
- Best Color Photography – by Harry Giglio in AKC Gazette “Weimaraner”
- Best Illustration/Painting – by Chet Jezierski in AKC Gazette – “The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever”
- Best Special Publication – The American Kennel Club 2002 Annual Report (written and designed by AKC Gazette staff)
