New York, NY – The American Kennel Club (AKC) and AKC Companion Animal Recovery (AKC-CAR), continue to work closely with the Florida Association of Kennel Clubs (FAKC) to assist animals affected by the devastating hurricanes in the southeast region of the U.S.
The AKC has sent crates to various shelters along the east coast of Florida – from Daytona Beach to Vero Beach – and has sent large supplies of flea and tick products to animal shelters in Alabama and North Carolina.
“We are committed to assisting The Florida Association of Kennel Clubs in their efforts to help the many animals in need,” said Dennis B. Sprung, AKC President and CEO. “Our ongoing efforts would not be possible without the generous support of these companies and individuals: Wayne Ferguson of Cherrybrook, Ernie Planck of Purina, Jeff Ansell of The Iams Company and Suzanne Slattery of The Hartz Mountain Corporation.”
Cherrybrook, Inc. has provided crates, space blankets and ex-pens at a special discounted rate; Purina and The Iams Company have made large deliveries of dog and cat food and The Hartz Mountain Corporation continues to send large donations of flea and tick dog spray, flea and tick shampoo and hundreds of dog collars. Additionally, significant donations of water, microchips, scanners, crates, a water purifier, space blankets, leashes, collars, fencing, batteries, flashlights and film have been made by AKC and AKC-CAR.

Contributions are used to immediately purchase needed equipment and supplies and deliver them directly to contact centers. Please note on the check that monies should go towards helping the victims of natural disasters.
