Storm the dog is being hailed a hero after rescuing a fawn from rushing waters in Port Jefferson, NY.

Storm and his owner, Mark Freeley, were on a walk Sunday morning when Storm jumped into the water, WCBS reports. The dog saw the deer being swept away by the rushing water and swam out to it, eventually succeeding in bringing the fawn to shore.

Freeley shared an incredible video of Storm's rescue on Facebook. The video has now gone viral and been viewed 1.3 million times.

Even after Storm brought the deer to shore, he followed it, making sure it stayed away from the water. When the deer lay on the ground, Storm nudged it, “to make sure she was gonna be OK,” Freeley told WCBS.

Freeley called experts to check on the fawn and it is now being treated for an eye injury at an animal facility until it can be safely released.
