This is part of a series spotlighting All American Dogs competing in the national AKC Junior Agility Competition held on Dec. 14 in Orlando, FL, in conjunction with the AKC Agility Invitational. The competition is for youth up to 18 years of age.

Call Name: Ivy

Age: 7 years

Gender: Female

Jump Height: 16 inches

Junior Handler: Kala Sizemore, 17

Hometown: Hedgesville, WV

Ivy and Kala have been partners for five years and have been competing in agility for three of those years. In addition to agility, they also enjoy rally, coursing, dock diving, and tricks. They will be performing a trick routine in Florida as well as competing in the JAC.

“My family adopted Ivy from the local humane society in June 2013 at the age of 2,” Kala said. “I was 12 at the time and didn’t know much about dogs until I met my best friend Morgan Vance. She introduced me to the world of dog sports and now we dabble in a little bit of everything. I also teach agility and rally classes. This is my last event as a junior, and I’m truly grateful for all the amazing opportunities and adventures my wonderful dog has given me.”

The Juniors program is for youth up to 18 years of age – so plan to hear about Kala when she continues to compete as an adult!
