1st AKC Rally Masters Title:

PACH Uggie Bug Jones CDX RM RAE FDC AX AXJ MXP7 MXPG MJP7 MJPS PAX2 OF MFPB T2BP2 SIN SEN SBN CGCA CGCU TKP & Shannon Jones of Cary, NC

It was a cold day in February 2003 when a tiny puppy, freezing and starving, was discovered hiding in Shannon’s yard.

“My training center was hosting an agility trial, but there had been an ice storm overnight and we were delayed until noon. My significant other was headed out for the morning and he called me saying, ‘I have a job for you and no, we cannot keep it.’ I came outside to find a little black and white puppy under the cover for our grill,” she said. “To this day, we have no idea how she found her way there. We live on a very busy street, and she was a very tiny, very sick puppy.”

Shannon had no intentions of keeping the pup – she just wanted to get her healthy and find a home, but sometimes things are meant to be.

“All I can say was that it was divine providence, and yes, she most definitely stayed. This 6 to 8-week-old puppy, weighing less than 4 pounds that was found to have roundworm, coccidia, and sarcoptic mange, would take me on the ride of a lifetime and turn into the most beautiful dog.”

Uggie found her forever home with Shannon and lots of jobs. She earned more than 280 titles in various venues in the sports of obedience, rally, agility, freestyle, barn hunt, scent work and tricks. At age 15, she became the first All American Dog to earn the Rally Masters title on Dec. 8, 2017, at the Durham Kennel Club trial.

” She was found during an ice storm and left me during a hurricane on September 6, 2019,” Shannon said. “She was amazing and will always be missed.”
