About AKC Native Breeds

In considering the diverse groups of people that own and love dogs, AKC Education created AKC Native Breeds. Posters were created to highlight breeds from specific countries and/or regions, focusing on common traits, history, culture, and origins. We seek to draw attention to these breeds while promoting appreciation of these diverse regions and backgrounds.
In addition to providing education about numerous breeds, AKC Native Breeds promotes pride in these diverse backgrounds and honors the heritage of other countries/regions from which the dogs are from. We want to acknowledge both the dogs and diverse groups of people that call these countries/regions home.
