  • Frequently Asked Questions +

    Who can enter the contest?

The AKC Meet The Breeds Art Contest is open to all legal residents in the city where the event is taking place, and surrounding areas. Participants must be in grades K-Undergraduate, they can be enrolled in public, charter, private schools, or home-schooled.

What type of art will be accepted?

Art must be created on a 8.5″ x 11″ piece of paper and must be flat. The picture can be created using drawing, painting, mixed media, or digital art. The art must be an original picture (not copied from somewhere or someone else) and must be created by you. It cannot have been submitted to another contest or promotion.  It must be uploaded through this link. This will be your entry form.

Where do I send my art?

Students will take a digital photograph of their artwork, fill out the form and upload it using this link.

What is the cost of shipping?

To help with the cost of shipping, the art should be shipped in bulk by the school.

The most economical form of shipment might be UPS Ground which can take 5-10 days.

Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope will cost around $10.00 and takes 3-5 days, depending on where it is coming from.

We do not recommend shipping the art priority express as this can cost upwards of $25. When in doubt, ask the clerk the most economical form of shipment that will guarantee delivery by the date needed.

Will I receive my child’s art back?

We make every effort to return all art that is sent to us, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee its return. Inevitably this process is dependent on the postal service, which is outside of our control. We recommend you make a copy of your child’s artwork for safekeeping, just in case.

How will the art be judged?

The entries will be split into four grade level categories: K-5, 6-8, 9-12, and Undergraduate

The art will be evaluated by a panel of judges, or by the public.

    What is the prize?

All finalists will have their art displayed at MTB event. Each finalist will receive a certificate and 2 Tickets to the event for good for 1 adult and 1 child.

Prizes can vary depending on the event.

How will I find out if I am a finalist?

Around the time of the event, AKC Public Education staff will send an email to the parent/legal guardian of the finalists and winners, notifying them. AKC will use the email address provided on the entry form. Each parent must acknowledge the message within 48 hours. The finalist’s artwork must then be mailed to:
