Obedience training teaches your dog appropriate social behavior with both people and animals by encouraging basic good behavior; it is necessary for all dogs and beneficial to your entire family. The basic objective of obedience competitions is to recognize dogs that have been trained to behave in the home, in public, and in the presence of other dogs at all times and under all conditions. Competitions test a dog’s ability to perform a prescribed set of skills, such as walking with you on- and off-leash, retrieving, jumping on command, and identifying a scent.
