Highlights from the January 2009 AKC Board of Directors Meeting

Highlights from the January 2009 meeting of the AKC Board of Directors are as follows:

  • The Board adopted a number of revisions to the Lure Coursing Regulations effective January 11, 2010, except for the revisions dealing with the seminar requirement for approved judges, which is effective January 1, 2011. The revised regulations are attached to the January 2009 minutes.
  • The Agility Regulations were revised, effective March 1, 2009 to clarify the leash requirement when entering or leaving a ring.
  • The criteria for approving Rally judges were modified to:
    1. Allow applicants to apply provisionally for all levels at the same time, and
    2. Change the requirements of judging a minimum of ten assignments with at least ten dogs competing in each assignment to judging a minimum of 350 dogs judged overall.
  • The revisions to the Vizsla breed standard, as published in the AKC GAZETTE, are to be effective April 1, 2009.

  • Kathleen Kinney, Ashtabula, OH, to represent Ashtabula Kennel Club
  • Kiki Lamb, Golden, CO, to represent Otterhound Club of America
  • Sidney L. Marx, Colorado Springs, CO, to represent Colorado Springs Kennel Club
  • Michael J. Teeling, Corfu, NY, to represent Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States
