An overreaching bill that seeks to regulate dog and cat breeders and sellers in Alabama is scheduled to be voted on by the Senate Government Affairs Committee tomorrow, April 20, at 8:45 a.m.

AKC strongly opposes any measure that restricts choice by compelling people and/or retailers to obtain pets solely from shelter or rescue distributors.

A bill scheduled for consideration on Monday, April 24, in the Colorado Senate Business, Labor and Technology Committee could impact those who offer pet services such as boarding, grooming, training or pet walking.

The Delaware Legislature has passed House Bill 13, which would protect the rights of responsible Delaware dog owners by prohibiting any dog from being declared 'potentially dangerous' or 'dangerous' under state law simply based on the dog's breed.

The Land Use Committee of the City of Riverside's City Council is scheduled to meet on Monday, May 8th. The agenda includes the consideration of drafting laws that would ban the retail sales of pets and require breeder licensing.

The NY Assembly is expected to vote soon on a bill that would prohibit homeowner's insurance providers from refusing or cancelling coverage or increasing premiums based solely on the breed of dog owned by the policy holder.
