Dog and mailman: Not what you would typically think of as a “good relationship.” We all know the trope seen again and again of dogs barking and chasing down mail carriers.

Well, not this German Shepherd and this neighborhood regular.

The mail carrier in the video below takes time out of his route everyday to stop by and visit his pup friend. The dog, according to his owner's Facebook post, is nine months old.

Michael Collins shared the adorable video on Facebook to show appreciation to the mailman who is building this friendship with his dog.

“This guy here always makes an effort to get off his bike to give him a hug and a pat! I'm not sure who to tag on Facebook for him to see this! But thanks man keep up the good job and you've definitely got a friend waiting for ya!!,” Collins wrote on Facebook.

You can see how the mail carrier taps the fence and the dog wags his tail and jumps up to be pet. What a sweet moment!

While it's not always safe to approach a dog you don't know, the video makes it clear that the mailman has interacted with the dog before, and the dog's body language says everything is OK.
