The AKC DNA Program does not accept DNA profiling performed by other companies. The AKC DNA SNP Profile, comprised of 201 markers, is proprietary and unique to the AKC. All genotypes in the AKC Database can be compared and used for genetic identity and parentage verification. It is essential to guarantee that all DNA profiles in the AKC DNA Database are absolutely correct, and that is why only AKC DNA Profiles are entered into the database.
The AKC DNA STR Profile, comprised of 14 markers, is compatible with tests performed by Neogen. However, we are phasing out this old technology.
