American Makes the Podium at Junior European Open Agility

(Friday, July 25, 2014)

Claire O’Neil, 14, of Carmichael, California, represented the AKC/USA at the recent Junior European Open Agility 2014 (JEO) held just outside of Milan, Italy. She competed with her Keeshond CH Windrift’s Right on the Money AX MXJ OF, better known as “Ama,” and the pair placed 3rd overall and made the podium in the Medium division!

This is the third year that Claire and Ama have participated in the JEO. They’ve also taken part in the Juniors Agility Competition at the AKC Agility Invitational and the International Team Tryouts this year in Minnesota.

Claire became interested in trying agility after watching her mom, Karen, train Ch Windrift’s Samba (Ama’s mother, Sami) in Agility. Claire and Ama turned out to be a natural team! Joanne Reed, who breeds Keeshonden under the Windrift prefix and who is Ama’s breeder and co-owner, is very proud of the pair, as is the Keeshond Club of America.

Claire made a video of her experiences at the Junior European Open. Check it out:
