The Massachusetts Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government has effectively ended consideration of a breed-specific legislative proposal for this session.
Senate Bill 969
, which would have allowed cities and towns to enact breed-specific dangerous dog legislation, was opposed by the American Kennel Club
and the Massachusetts Federation of Dog Clubs and Owners (MassFed). The committee sent the bill to “study” on September 23, effectively ending its consideration for the year.
AKC Government Relations congratulates and thanks MassFed and the many concerned Massachusetts dog owners who took the time to contact their state legislators on this bill.
