Massachusetts Reminder: Important Legislative Hearing Tomorrow, June 4

(Monday, June 03, 2013)
The Massachusetts Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government will consider several important legislative bills that deal with dogs, their owners, and breeders. The hearing will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, June 4, at 11:00A.M. in Room B1 of the State House in Boston.

If you are a responsible Massachusetts dog owner or breeder who is concerned with any of the bills that will be heard tomorrow and have not already expressed your concerns, it is of vital importance you contact the committee members who will consider the legislation and let them know your views on the pending legislation.

The AKC Government Relations Department (AKC-GR) also strongly encourages concerned owners and breeders to attend tomorrow’s committee hearing. Attendance matters! Testimony will be accepted in the order in which attendees sign up. Legislative staff expects a large crowd and asks attendees to plan accordingly.

If you would like to attend, please contact the Massachusetts Federation of Dog Clubs (MassFed) at info@massfeddogs.org or (508) 966-4564 / (508) 612-9553. Let them know that you will be attending the hearings, and, if you would like to testify, which bill you would like to address. MassFed will help you prepare to testify and is also happy to help coordinate carpooling if needed.

AKC Government Relations will continue to provide information on these bills. For more information, contact AKC GR at (919) 816-3720 or doglaw@akc.org. You may also contact the Massachusetts Federation of Dog Clubs at info@massfeddogs.com.
