NJ Success: Delaware Township Limits Proposal Returned to First Reading

(Tuesday, October 02, 2012)

Yesterday evening, the Delaware Township (New Jersey) Board of Health considered dog ownership and breeding limits. However, due to the outreach of the New Jersey Federation of Dog Clubs, the American Kennel Club (AKC), and many concerned responsible dog breeders and owners from throughout New Jersey, the Board of Health decided to instead reassess its animal control needs and return the current proposal to first reading.

The AKC congratulates the New Jersey Federation of Dog Clubs and the many individuals who effectively advocated protecting their rights to breed and own dogs responsibly. The AKC also commends the Delaware Township Board of Health for respecting the many stakeholders who expressed serious concerns with the limits proposals.

The AKC Government Relations Department will continue to provide updates regarding Delaware Township as developments warrant.
