AKC/USA Agility World Team Member Brings Home Gold at 2011 FCI Agility World Championships

New York, NY - AKC/USA Agility World Teammember Ashley Deacon and his Pyrenean Shepherd "Luka" a.k.a. NAC MACH3 Luka de La Brise XF captured individual Gold in the Medium Dogs class at the 2011 FCI Agility World Championship in Lieven, France from a field of 82 competitors from 36 countries.

The AKC/USA Team sent 11 competitors to France, comprising Small, Medium and Large Dog teams. Over the three days, AKC/USA team members completed thirty-six runs in the Team and Individual competitions.

"Congratulations to Gold Medalists Ashley and Luka, the new reigning World Champions in the Medium dog class. In addition to their success, the rest of the US team brought back wonderful individual placements on some very tough courses," said AKC Director of Agility Carrie DeYoung. "Our team members dedicate a lot of time and effort to training and competing year-round and should be congratulated for their accomplishments in France. We also thank our many sponsors, supporters and the AKC Agility community for their support, which plays a huge role in the World Team's success."

Ashley and Luka's amazing runs started on Friday, which was Luka's ninth birthday and continued throughout all four challenging courses they ran during the weekend. Besides winning the gold they also placed 1st in the Individual Agility Round. Nineteen year old first-time team member Tori Self and her Border Collie NAC MACH Sagehill's Change the World OF ("Rev") won the Large Dog Team Jumping class out of 93 teams, placing over many former world champions.
