Highlights from the January 2008 Board Meeting

New York, NY – Highlights from the January 2008 meeting of the AKC Board of Directors are as follows:

  • Effective February 1, 2008, a pilot program will be put in place to enable an owner to register a dog with a name of 37 to 50 spaces, rather than being held to the usual 36 space limit. The fee for names exceeding 36 spaces will be $10.00.
  • Three new breeds, the Jindo; the Wirehaired Vizsla; and the Eurasier became eligible for the Foundation Stock Service.

The following Delegates were approved:

  • Frandel Brown, Fresno, CA, to represent Sun Maid Kennel Club of Fresno
  • Kathi Brown, Stow, MA, to represent Ladies’ Dog Club
  • John D. French, Miami, FL, to represent Greater Naples Dog Club
  • Marilyn Mayfield, Camarillo, CA, to represent Old English Sheepdog Club of America
  • Dr. Harvey Mohrenweiser, Turner, OR, to represent Standard Schnauzer Club of America
  • David W. Morgan, New York, NY, to represent K-9 Obedience Training Club of Essex County, New Jersey
  • Dr. Dale Schuur, Grandville, MI, to represent Bull Terrier Club of America
  • Rosann H. Sexton, Chester, VT, to represent Woodstock Dog Club
  • Sarah Stebbins, Saratoga Springs, NY, to represent Saratoga New York Kennel Club
  • Julie Virosteck, Lucerne Valley, CA, to represent American Spaniel Club
  • Georgia Warren, Kingsport, TN, to represent Greater Kingsport Kennel Club
