— Hunters Competing in 2007 Qualifying Events Will Be Eligible —

The American Kennel Club is pleased to announce that the Remington Arms Company will sponsor the grand prize – a Remington Limited Edition 4 x 4 Chevrolet Crew Cab Truck – for the 2008 AKC Coonhound National Championship.

The qualifying period for the 2008 AKC Coonhound National Championship will be from Jan. 1 – Dec. 31, 2007. Hunters with AKC-registered coonhounds who accrue the most cast wins with plus points during competition in 2007 will vie for the top 16 slots in several categories in the AKC National Standings. Categories include top dogs by State Race, by Coonhound Breed Race, by National Youth Race, and by Gold Medal series.

“This premier event is known as “The AKC/Remington Hunt for the All American Cup” so it makes sense that the country's oldest and largest purebred registry teams up with Remington – America's oldest gun maker – to create the largest prize in coonhound history,” said AKC Chief Operating Officer John J. Lyons.

“Clubs are encouraged to apply to hold their 2007 AKC hunts to give hunters in their area an opportunity to qualify to compete for this tremendous prize,” said Assistant Vice President of Coonhound Events Steve Fielder.
