Raleigh, NC — AKC® Chief Operating Officer John Lyons today announced the promotion of Peter Gaeta from Executive Field Representative to Director of Judging Operations. Gaeta, who will replace Mary Ann Alston following her retirement in July, brings a wealth of experience in AKC regulations and the sport of purebred dogs to his new position.

Employed by the AKC since 1999, Gaeta has over forty years experience in the sport as a breeder, club officer and professional handler. He is a frequent speaker about AKC policies and procedures at kennel clubs and judges groups around the country and has contributed numerous articles to AKC and fancier publications. In addition to his decades in the fancy, Gaeta worked as a teacher and in real estate where he gained business and management experience. He will report to Darrell Hayes, Assistant Vice President of Judging Operations.

“We are confident that Peter will continue to be a great resource for dog fanciers and judges in his new position,” said Lyons. “His background in the sport combined with his strong communication and management skills make him an asset to the AKC.”
