The American Kennel Club announced today the appointment of Gail E. Miller to the position of Director of Media Relations. Gail, who has significant experience in both communications and purebred dogs, will be responsible for developing media relationships in order to promote AKC programs, materials and services.

Gail's parents, Don and Gail J. Miller, were founding members of the Bearded Collie Club of America after being introduced to the breed in the early 1970's while stationed in England. Gail began handling Beardies at the age of 9, finishing her first champion the next year. From that point she continued exhibiting in Junior Showmanship and Conformation, as well as in Obedience and Herding events.

Throughout her 25 years in the sport, Gail also handled her parents and clients dogs to multiple All-Breed Best in Shows, National Specialty Best of Breeds and Best of Opposite Sex wins. Gail also judged several Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes at the B.C.C.A. National Specialty and at regional specialties.

Professionally, Gail has 12 years of experience in television advertising production. She has produced award-winning national and regional television commercials for clients such as M&M / Mars, TWA, Southwestern Bell, Ralston Foods, Pillsbury and Blockbuster Video.

Gail brings new skills to our department with her direct experience in television production and editing. This expertise, plus her background as a fancier, make her a valuable addition to our team, said Daisy Okas, AKC's AVP of Communications.
