Dogs in Art Brunch at Doyle New York and Have-A-Heart Ball To Benefit DOGNY

New York, NY – The American Kennel Club (AKC) is pleased to announce that it will host the eighth American Kennel Club Open House at its New York City headquarters, 260 Madison Avenue, 4th floor, on Sunday, February 13, 2005 from noon to 4 p.m.

Fanciers are invited to partake in refreshments and hors d’oeuvres, visit with AKC Board Members and staff, enjoy the extensive AKC Library and view AKC’s historical art collection.

“The AKC Open House is always an enjoyable gathering of fanciers from all over the country, ” said AKC President and CEO Dennis B. Sprung. “It is a wonderful opportunity to visit with those you do not see every weekend at shows and view the space AKC calls home. We look forward to welcoming all friends to our New York offices in February.”

In addition to the open house, AKC would like to invite all dog lovers to attend the Dogs in Art Brunch at the prestigious auction house, Doyle New York, 175 East 87th Street in New York City. The brunch will be held prior to the AKC Open House — from 10 am to noon. This much-loved event offers dog lovers and art aficionados the opportunity to view masterpieces featuring dogs and other sporting themes in a private showing for people and their dogs.

Admission to the brunch is a $50 donation, with all proceeds benefiting the AKC’s fund-raising and public art program, DOGNY – America’s Tribute to Search and Rescue Dogs. All contributions are fully tax-deductible through the AKC CAR Canine Support and Relief Fund, a 501(c)(3) charity. For tickets and information call 212-427-4141 or visit www.doylenewyork.com.

Sprung, who created the DOGNY project for the AKC, notes, “We are delighted that Doyle New York has once again selected DOGNY as the recipient of the proceeds of the Dogs in Art Brunch. The fact that our pets are welcome makes it all the more enjoyable. It is not every day that we can savor the best of canine art with our dogs while also supporting a very important cause.”

Another New York City event benefiting DOGNY is the fourth annual Have-A-Heart Ball – hosted by ShowSight Magazine and a committee of dedicated fanciers – at the Plaza Hotel on Saturday, February 12. Admission is $50 with all the proceeds from the ball, auction and 50/50 raffle to equally benefit DOGNY and Take the Lead. For the last three years, DOGNY has been the recipient of approximately $60,000 in donations. For tickets and information call 863-858-3839 or visit www.dmcg.com.
