New York, NY – The American Kennel Club (AKC) is pleased to report that usage of its online litter registration service – launched one year ago this month – has now surpassed 100,000 litters in total and accounts for nearly 30 percent of all AKC litter regsitrations.

In February 2004, the AKC launched a service allowing customers who sell dogs directly to dog owners to register individual dogs online. Nearly 8,000 dogs have been registered to date and plans are underway to broaden this service.

Both services offer a more efficient process and faster means for completing business with the AKC. Breeders and dog owners now enter their own information, eliminating redundant data entry and mail time, and enabling the immediate delivery of registration data.

“I’m pleased to see that our online registration services have been well received and expect to see a continued increase in frequency of usage as we continue to make enhancements,” said Dennis B. Sprung, AKC President and CEO. “The popularity of these initial services gives us further incentive to continue developing and introducing more online products that help our core constituency.”
