The American Kennel Club® announced today that Executive Field Representative Ray Scott, who has represented the AKC® since 1984, will retire on May 31, 2007.
"Ray's skill and talent with dogs and people has been a tremendous asset to the AKC and the sport," said Darrell Hayes, Vice President of Dog Show Judges. "We will miss working with him and wish him the best of luck in retirement."
Ray and his wife Ginger began showing dogs in 1966 in both conformation and obedience. They bred and raised Standard Poodles and Beagles under the Kamelot Kennel prefix. Ray and Ginger were both AKC licensed professional handlers and members of P.H.A. Ray is a lifetime member of the Onondaga Kennel Association in Syracuse where he served on their Board of Directors for 14 years and as Show Chairman for 18 shows.
Ray joined the AKC as a Field Representative in 1984 and moved to the Midwest where he and Ginger lived for ten years. The Scotts moved back East in June of 1994 and currently reside in Pennellville, New York. After retirement, Ray plans to pursue judging and is looking forward to having more time for his other hobbies, including boating.
