The American Kennel Club® (AKC®) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2012 Kids’ Corner Art Contest from the second round of judging. This year’s art contest theme was responsible dog ownership.

 

The winners included:

Kindergarten-2nd Grade: Cindy of Little Fish Art Studio for her piece titled “My puppy Angel,” drawn with colored markers and crayons
3rd-5th Grade: Isabel of Menlo Park for her colored-pencil drawing “My Perfect Pet”
6th-8th Grade: Mackenzie of Myrtle Grove Middle School for her artwork titled “I Am A Responsible Dog Owner,” drawn with crayons

“We commend all participants for their submissions and congratulate the winners on their beautiful work,” said Lisa Peterson, AKC Director of Communications. “The AKC is committed to helping owners raise happy, healthy dogs and the artwork submitted for this contest shows that our youngest dog lovers already have a great grasp on how to be responsible owners.”

Children from schools, communities and AKC RDO Day events across the country were encouraged to submit an original work depicting responsible dog ownership for the contest. The contest was open to students who on February 1, 2012 were at least 5 years old and under 15 years in age and enrolled in U.S. grades kindergarten through eighth grade. AKC awards prizes such as The Complete Dog Book for Kids,Bailey’s Purebred Dog Coloring Book, a Responsible Dog Owner bookmark and The Dog Listener DVD for first, second and third place winners.
