The American Kennel Club is pleased to announce enhanced features for pet owners. Visitors to the web site can now easily find an AKC club that holds classes in their area as well as other information on training their puppy or adult dog. Located on the home page under the drop down menu “Life with Dogs/Training/Training Resources,” the new page features links to other relevant areas on the site, as well as a “search by state” function which provides listings of local clubs and their contact information.

All AKC clubs are encouraged to submit their contact information for listing if they offer regular obedience, agility, tracking, performance events, Canine Good Citizen “, conformation handling, or other classes that are open to the public.

“We know our clubs offer the most effective and economical classes taught by the most dedicated and experienced instructors. We want to ensure that AKC clubs are the first place dog owners go to find information about training, ” said Pat Krause, Assistant Vice-President Companion Events. “These classes are a great way to interest people in AKC Obedience and other events, and to ensure that all companion dogs – whether show dogs or pets — have good manners.”

If you belong to an AKC member, licensed or affiliated club which offers classes and your club is not yet listed on the training pages of the website, please e-mail obedience@akc.org.
