New York, NY – The American Kennel Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Hartman to Director of Agility. Hartman joined the AKC in May, 2003 as the Agility Manager in the Companion Events department and was quickly promoted to Manager of Companion Events in September, 2003. In April 2004, he joined the Internal Consulting Group (ICG) as a Senior Consultant. Some of Hartman’s ICG projects included the Breeder’s Newsletter, Coonhound Business Plan and Departmental Service Level Agreements.

“Andy’s previous work at the AKC has prepared him to take on this new challenge,” said AKC Chief Operating Officer John Lyons. “I am confident that his business experience and enthusiasm for a variety of AKC events will be an asset in supervising the continued growth of this popular Companion event.”

A dog lover all his life, Hartman lives in Fuquay Varina, N.C. with his wife Cindy and their five dogs: Border Collies – Zest (MACH) and Fly, Belgian Tervuren – Taz (AX, AXJ) and Scorch (CH, OA, OAJ, RE), and Border Terrier – Widget (NA, AXJ, RA). Andy and his wife enjoy competing in Conformation, Agility, Obedience, Rally and Earthdog. They are members of Moore County Kennel Club, Durham Kennel Club, Cary Kennel Club, the American Belgian Tervuren Club and the Schipperke Club of America.
