The American Kennel Club (AKC) is disappointed to learn that a television ad to promote the Westminster Kennel Club dog show depicting a Doberman Pinscher’s mouth and teeth along with the words “nasty dog” is continuing to be seen on various television stations. This spot reflects negatively on the Doberman Pinscher and perpetuates an unfair characterization of the breed. Upon learning about the ad, the AKC promptly contacted the Westminster Kennel Club to request that the television ad be modified or removed. We were told that our request would be complied with.
We understand and sympathize with the concern that fanciers across the country have in regards to this matter. We have taken the best course of action available to us for prompting a removal or modification of this advertisement.
