The American Kennel Club is pleased to announce that Curt A. Curtis has been named as Director of Companion Events. He will replace Patricia Krause, AVP of Companion Events, who will be retiring May 1st, 2005.

Curtis comes to the AKC with extensive management and administrative experience from his former position as Sergeant with the Oregon State Police, and over 30 years' experience in AKC Companion Events as an exhibitor, Show/Trial Chairman and judge. Curtis has also held various officer positions in numerous dog clubs.

Recently retired from the Oregon State Police, after 27 years, Curtis managed the development of dispatch, clerical and administrative staff along with direct supervision of officers in the patrol, criminal and game divisions.

“I am pleased to welcome Curt to the AKC,” said AKC COO John Lyons. “His background in many facets of our sport combined with his management experience will make him an asset to the AKC and ensure a smooth transition.”

Curtis, his wife Karla (a former Obedience, Tracking and Rally Judge), their two Coonhounds, and a Brittany will be relocating to Raleigh from Salem, Oregon. He will report to the AKC to begin his new job on March 15th, 2005.
