Will You Meet the Challenge?
RALEIGH, NC — Have you met the AKC Canine Health Foundation Endowment Challenge yet? There are several giving vehicles that donors have used to "double the dollars for dogs" including gifts of stock, matching gifts, and giving through your individual clubs.
CHF director, Mary Edwards Hayes and her husband Peter gave a wonderful contribution that was doubled by a matching gift from Microsoft. "It's incredibly easy to make a difference in the health and well-being of dogs," says Hayes. "Pete and I have seen the devastating effects of disease in our own dogs. By doubling our donation - which quadrupled with the match from AKC, we're able to fight back and fund the research that has a powerful impact on canine health. We're proud to support the Canine Health Foundation as they work to identify genetic markers, develop tests, and produce the therapies our dogs need."
A simple way to give a cash gift that will be doubled by the AKC is through a stock gift. Earlier in the year, an donor who wishes to remain anonymous transferred a gift of stock worth over $10,000 to the Endowment. Information and sample stock transfer letters can be found on our website at www.akcchf.org.
We have had several All Breed and Parent Clubs contributing major donations to the campaign including the Tennessee Valley Kennel Club and the Texas Kennel Club that gave $10,000 each! According to Texas Kennel Club president, Donna Hacholski, CHF is a wonderful vehicle for promoting the health of purebred dogs. "One of the tenets of our mission as an all breed club is education. The CHF sponsors outstanding breeders' symposia and educational events - and we rely on the expertise of their scientists for so much. I highly encourage all breed clubs and specialty clubs to give to the cause!"
Whether you choose to give through your clubs, individually, through matching gifts, or stock, all giving vehicles will ultimately lead to healthier, longer lives for our dogs. Donors to the campaign will be recognized in print in dog media and press and on the Internet.
