October Board Meeting Highlights

 

Highlights from the October 2005 meeting of the AKC® Board of Directors are as follows:

  • Two FSS breeds, the Cane Corso and the Icelandic Sheepdog, have been approved to participate in AKC Obedience, Tracking and Agility Events, effective July 1, 2006.

  • The Board has interpreted Chapter 3, Section 4A of the Rules Applying to Registration and Discipline to mean that in order to individually register a dog from an AKC litter with a Limited registration, all co-owners of the litter must agree. If the litter co-owners disagree, the dog will receive Full registration.

  • The previously published breed standard revisions for the Chow Chow and the Kerry Blue Terrier have been approved, effective, January 1, 2006.

  • The Rally Judges Guidelines were amended to clarify the policy on judging assignment limits. While there is a 30-day and 200-mile conflict policy:

    • A judge may accept assignments to judge the same class for two Rally trials that fall on the same day at the same site; or

    • A judge may accept assignments to judge two Rally trials over the course of two consecutive days at the same site or within a local geographical area as determined by AKC.

  • Helmi Konderock, Monmouth Beach, NJ, to represent Monmouth County Kennel Club, Inc.

  • Ann Lettis, Staten Island, NY, to represent Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of America

  • Joseph P. Pendry, Freedom, CA, to represent Saluki Club of America

  • Billie Ponton, Bethlehem, CT, to represent Northwestern Connecticut Dog Club, Inc.

  • Marlene Steinberg, Southampton, PA, to represent Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association
