On March 9, 2011, the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program was recognized by the Senate and General Assembly of the state of New Jersey.

This Joint Legislative Resolution brings the total of states that have formally acknowledged the American Kennel Club’s CGC program to forty-four.

The ongoing efforts of CGC Evaluator Kim Kosko were critical in getting a resolution in the state of New Jersey. Kosko has been a CGC Evaluator since the program began, she is a member of Bayshore Companion Dog Club (Eatontown, NJ), and she trains her dog in tracking, agility, and rally.

Dr. Mary Burch, AKC CGC Director, said, “We are extremely grateful to Senator Van Drew and Assemblymen Albano and Milam who sponsored the resolution, and we are delighted that New Jersey has joined the states that recognize the relationship between responsible dog ownership and the well-being of our communities.”
