The Maryland House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider numerous important bills impacting dog owners on Thursday, February 20.
Bills scheduled for consideration include a positive bill prohibiting breed-specific legislation. The committee will also discuss two bills that place unreasonable restrictions on ear cropping, tail docking, dewclaw removal, and debarking.
Those who reside or participate in dog events in Maryland are strongly encouraged to attend the committee hearing and contact the committee members. Ask them to support House Bill 422 and oppose House Bill 665 and 667.
Several additional bills regarding dog ownership are also on the committee agenda. View AKC’s previous Legislative Alert for more information the bills scheduled for consideration and details on how to contact the committee and participate in the committee hearing.
The AKC Government Relations Department (AKC GR) will continue to closely monitor these bills and provide more information.
