Minnesota, inspite of the cold weather, had a great time running agility at the Land O'Lakes Kennel Club all breed event January 2, 3, 4, 2004.
This first of the year trial ran smoothly and was a great crowd pleaser. Two firsts happened in the form of Novice Agility titles earned by two of the new rare breeds admitted into the performance events. John Peterson and his Pyrenean Shepherd, Vitesse De La Brise, (Luc) had three qualifying runs to earn his NA. Also, Lorraine Paglini and her Finnish Lapphund, Sugarok Nautittava, earned all first places in Novice B for her NA and also earned her Novice Obedience title as well.
The highlight of one day was the demonstration by the Junior Handlers that train together during the year. Fifteen juniors ages 5 through 16 ran with their dogs on a Novice course under judge, Leona Hellsvig. The juniors were: Kiki Cohen, Anna Drahos, Jordan Gollner, Jennifer Hansen, Jenny Holmseth, Rory O'Brien, Paige Pribonic, Elizabeth Ridley, Kathryn Ridley, Karen Runkle, Katie Sadousky, Mikaela Sundberg, Caitlin Varhalla, Mark Woodard and Annie Zacho.
The large number of spectators enjoyed the young peoples performance and many inquired as to how to sign up their children in the wonderful sport of agility. Director of Agility, Sharon Anderson and AVP Mari-Beth O'Neil enjoyed speaking to the juniors and sharing pizza at the end of the day.
