Please be aware if you are traveling in the region affected by the floods and/or are volunteering to work at the various temporary shelters that there may be road and highway closures.

To find the most up-to-date information please use the Iowa DOT Information Hotline.

Due to the high volume of public inquires about road closings in the state, the Iowa Department of Transportation has established a temporary customer service phone line: 866-452-8510

This line should NOT be used to report an emergency situation – call 911.

Iowa DOT customer service operators will be available from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily, while flood-related conditions warrant. For road condition information outside these hours, call 511 (in Iowa) or 800-288-1047 (outside the state).

As a result of the flooding in Iowa and other Mid-West states, the American Kennel Club, working with state emergency and shelter personnel and area kennel club members, has pledged donations of much needed crates and other supplies to the region.

Fanciers have asked how they can help both in terms of volunteering time and / or providing monetary donations. If you would like to volunteer in the area please call the Iowa State Emergency Operations Center in Des Moines at 515-323-4267. If you would like to donate funds please visit the AKC CAR Canine Support and Relief Fund page to make a tax-deductible contribution.
