It’s time for those New Year’s resolutions again and in the AKC CGC department, we’re busy working on resolutions and proclamations.

We are extremely pleased to announce that through the efforts of AKC CGC Evaluators Christine Nelson (Pocatello Kennel Club) and Sandy Peterson (Board Member, Therapy Dogs Incorporated) Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter endorsed the Canine Good Citizen program when he declared a CGC Day in the state of Idaho.

A CGC Proclamation for Idaho makes a total of 42 states that have acknowledged the American Kennel Club’s CGC program.

"We are very honored that Gov. Otter has given this level of recognition to the CGC program," said AKC CGC Director Dr. Mary Burch. "And, we are extremely grateful to Christine Nelson who worked on getting this recognition for several years, and to Sandy Peterson who joined the cause this past year. Both Christine and Sandy are CGC evaluators who truly believe in promoting responsible dog ownership and thanks to their work, Idaho is now among the states that formally recognize the CGC concept."
