Highlights from the October 2008 meeting of the AKC Board of Directors are as follows:
The Board voted to accept the report of the Group Realignment Committee at the same time expressing its appreciation to the committee for the work that went into it. The report, along with the procedure for submitting comments, are included in the minutes of the October meeting.
The Board voted to amend its policy in order to facilitate the use of the online individual registration of co-owned dogs. Details are included in the minutes of the October meeting.
Numerous amendments to the Obedience Regulations, as recommended by the Obedience Advisory Committee, were approved. The amendments, with the effective dates, are included in the minutes of the October meeting.
Effective immediately, the AKC Discipline Guidelines for registration were amended pertaining to the refusal to consent to an inspection when requested:
Registration Violations (All Privileges)
Refusing to produce dogs or records *
Mitigated Standard Aggravated
6 months/$500 5 yr†/$1000 Life†/$3000
† (If reinstated, must start with a new colony, or in lieu thereof, bring back dogs from the old colony for which a DNA profile is recorded with the AKC and is positively identified via microchip or tattoo.)
*Reinstatement is contingent on passing an AKC inspection.
