New York, NY - Highlights from the November 2005 meeting of the AKC ® Board of Directors are as follows:

 

  • The Board established an Ad Hoc Delegates Legislation Committee to support the AKC Legislation Department with promoting interest in and awareness of canine legislation issues through presentations and web outreach to clubs in their areas. Further details and the committee appointments are included in the minutes for the November 2005 meeting.

  • The previously published breed standard revisions for the German Pinscher have been approved, effective January 1, 2006.

  • The Boykin Spaniel has been approved to participate in AKC Companion Events, effective July 1, 2006, and in Spaniel Hunting Tests, effective January 1, 2006.

  • Effective January 1, 2006, the fee for a single-breed Registered Kennel Name will be $100 for five years and $100 for each five-year renewal. The fee for an all-breed Registered Kennel Name will be $300 for each five-year renewal.

  • Amendments to the Beagle Field Trial Rules were adopted to provide for a three-time official measurement to replace the current one-time procedure. This change is effective January 1, 2006.

  • The Regulations for AKC Coonhound Bench Shows, Field Trials, Nite Hunts, and Water Races were amended to clarify the determination of cast winners and how to break ties.

 

The following Delegates were approved:

  • I. Lehr Brisbin, Jr., Aiken, SC, to represent the Staffordshire Terrier Club of America

  • Tom Brown, Santa Ana, CA, to represent the Santa Ana Valley Kennel Club

  • Thomson P. Stanfield, Jr., Commerce City, CO, to represent the Terry-All Kennel Club
