New York, NY – Highlights from the December 2004 meeting of the AKC Board of Directors are as follows:
The Board adopted a number of initiatives designed to increase AKC's involvement with Coonhound events:
FSS registration fees for Coonhounds enrolled based upon a Professional Kennel Club (PKC) or United Kennel Club (UKC) pedigree will be waived between January 1st and December 31st 2005.
PKC and UKC Coonhound events will be added to the list of non-AKC breed specific events that AKC clubs are permitted to hold effective January 1st, 2005.
If requested by the board of the AKC Plott Parent Club, AKC will open the Plott stud book for dogs with acceptable PKC or UKC pedigree for two years. For the first year the Open registration fee will be waived.
Effective April 1st, 2005 the license fee for all Coonhound events will be $25 and there will be a $3 recording fee per entry.
The following Delegates were approved: Ruth Crumb to represent Mount Vernon Dog Training Club; H. William Pottebaum to represent The Greater Naples Dog Club; and Mary D. Wilder to represent the Cairn Terrier Club of America.
The board approved the membership application for the following clubs which are to be voted at the January 2005 Delegates meeting: Charlottesville-Albermarle Kennel Club, Charlottesville, VA; Chintinimi Kennel Club, Corvalis, OR, and the Rogue Valley Kennel Club, Grants Pass, OR.
