New York, NY - Highlights from the August 2004 meeting of the AKC Board of Directors are as follows:

 

  • The Board appointed the Nominating Committee for the Board Class of 2009. The Chair is Diane Albers, and the Committee members are: Erik Bergishagen, Viola Burgos, Harry Ottmann and Nancy Perrell, with Ann Wallin and Carol Williamson as alternates.

  • Evan Ginsburg was appointed as Chair of the Southwestern Trial Board. He is to replace John T. Murphy, who is retiring from that position after over fifteen years of service.

  • The composition of the AKC Staff Judge Approval Committee was reported. It consists of: Darrell Hayes, Chair, James Crowley, John Lyons, Ronald Rella and Dennis Sprung.

  • The Tibetan Mastiff was approved to compete in the Miscellaneous Class, effective January 1, 2005.

  • The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog was approved for participation in Herding Tests and for "Exhibition Only" status in Herding Trials, effective January 1, 2005.

  • The Board approved a number of changes in registration procedure to support online registrations.

  • The following Delegates were approved: Ms. Pat Eddington to represent the Manatee Kennel Club; Ms. Jane Harmon to represent the Cocker Spaniel Breeders Club of New England, Inc.; Mr. Charles Keller to represent the Spartanburg Kennel Club, Inc.; Mr. Ronald H. Menaker to represent the Greater Freeport Illinois Kennel Club; Mrs. Betty Jo Patrick to represent the Schipperke Club of America, Inc.; Mrs. Joan V. Savage to represent the Portland Kennel Club, Inc.
