AKC and TICA Uncover the Inner Dog & Cat of the Women Behind The Popular Reality Show
From barking loudly about their children’s latest accomplishments to clawing over who is attacking who, each week the women of the Real Housewives of New Jersey find themselves fighting like cats and dogs.
Inspired by New York City’s November 19 & 20 AKC Meet the Breeds® event, the world’s largest showcase of cats and dogs, the American Kennel Club® (AKC) and The International Cat Association (TICA) looked at the distinct personalities and characteristics of more than 210 dog and cat breeds to determine the best fit for the personality and character of each New Jersey Housewife. Among them:
She is seen as the matriarch of the Housewives. Caroline is dedicated to, and protective of, her family famously proclaiming "You mess with my family, you mess with me.”
Dog Breed: Like Caroline, German Shepherd Dogs, have a noble character and are both dignified and possess a steadfast heart. The breed’s protective nature makes them the world’s leading police, guard and military dog.
Cat Breed: The Maine Coon is serious, rugged and strong. A good natured cat they get along well with children and are not afraid of work.
Outspoken and devoted to family, Teresa is not afraid to speak her mind, even if it sometimes means making a scene. She is also one of the flashiest housewives.
Dog Breed: Chihuahuas are known as the “sassy charmer” of the dog world. They are extremely devoted and smart, but far too tiny to flip a table although they might insist on a scrap from it.
Cat Breed: The flashy coat of the Bengal surpasses none. Busy and vocal, the Bengal is never too shy to speak its mind. This cat is loyal to the family and always an active participant in whatever is going on.
Quiet and bland, Jacqueline, a mother of three, struggles to keep her teenage daughter on the right track.
Dog Breed: The Basenji is commonly known as the "barkless dog,” and thus very quiet. The breed is open and calm with friends, and loving with children.
Cat Breed: The Ragdoll is a loving, quiet cat with a laidback disposition. They are known for their tolerant attitudes with other animals and especially children.
While dedicated to her husband and their children, Melissa puts family first and will stop at nothing to defend her husband over her sister-in-law.
Dog Breed: The Entlebucher Mountain Dogis a loyal, active, persistent, self-assured and determined breed. They are loyal and protective of their family, but may be reserved with strangers.
Cat Breed: The Korat is energetic, intelligent and affectionate. This cat loves to play but is very gentle when playing with children.
From the Afghan Hound to the Turkish Van, AKC Meet the Breeds is the world’s largest showcase of dogs and cats and offers pet lovers a unique opportunity to play with some of the country’s rarest dog and cat breeds while educating themselves about responsible pet ownership and choosing the right pet for their lifestyle.
