On Saturday morning, June 9, staff from AKC's North Carolina Operations Center, along with family and friends, participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5k Run/Walk held at Meredith College in Raleigh. Through the work of its Community Events Team, AKC employees contributed almost $1,800 to Komen, the world's largest and most progressive grassroots network that fights to end breast cancer. All told, more than 22,000 participants took to the streets of Raleigh, raising over $1.5 million for the organization's mission of empowering people, ensuring quality care for all, and energizing science to find cures. As you see from the photos, a good time was had by everyone involved, and plans are already underway for participation in next year's Komen event.
