February is the month each year that dog writers from across the country come to New York City hoping to win awards that recognize the best of the best in the dog writing world.

This year’s competition was fierce with nearly 1000 entries from writers, editors, publishers, photographers, and artists competing in two different contests. Entries were judged by a distinguished panel of judges who are experts in dogs, writing, or both. AKC’s Erika Mansourian, Editorial Director for the AKC Gazette and Family Dog congratulated the writers and Publications staff for the Gazette achievements.
