The AKC Community Events Team participated in the Canine Carnival – a fall festival celebrating dogs and dog owners.

The Wake County Parks and Recreation Department held the inaugural event on Oct. 31 in Crowder District Park in Apex, NC.

The festival included vendors, games and giveaways, as well as discount rabies and microchip clinics.

The AKC staff answered the public’s questions and distributed information, as well as coordinating demonstrations of the AKC sports of Agility, Obedience and Rally. AKC also offered CGC testing. Several dogs passed the test and left the event as new Canine Good Citizens.

A dog costume contest was the highlight of the day, and all participants were treated to refreshments at a "Costume After Party" by the Cary Kennel Club. The AKC donated an AKC toy and an AKC leash and collar as prizes for the costume contest.
