Today, members of the AKC Community Events Team and the AKC Employee Events Team delivered wrapped presents to the Ronald McDonald House in Durham, North Carolina. The Ronald McDonald House is a home-away-from-home where seriously ill children and their families can live while receiving treatment.
Along with the wrapped presents, team members presented a Sony 36" FD Trinitron® WEGA® Flat-Screen TV. The AKC Employee Events Team sold holiday party raffle tickets to employees which helped raise over $400. The American Kennel Club then matched the funds raised by employees.
Members of the AKC Community Events Team also presented two boxes of pop tabs to Ronald McDonald House of Durham. Throughout the year, AKC employees helped contribute to the Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Collection Program. Many Ronald McDonald Houses work with local recycling centers to receive money for collecting tabs from aluminum cans - including those from soda cans, vegetable and soup cans, and pet food cans.
Barbara Ohmann brought her Labrador Retriever "Grace" and Kristy Siefkin brought her Pomeranian "Gunner." The children loved playing with the dogs and with Bailey (the AKC Mascot).
