The American Kennel Club congratulates all the winners of the annual Dog Writers Association of America Writing Competition. AKC is honored to be among those award winners.

The AKC congratulates special award honoree Diana Chan for winning the DWAA Junior Writer Award. Diana wrote and produced the short video “This is Zephyr,” which chronicles the bond she and her Pointer, Zephyr, have developed inside and out of the show ring. Watch This is Zephyr on YouTube.

AKC’s Pick of the Litter podcast team won the Podcast division for AKC’s Pick of the Litter – Aug./Sept. 2012, which focused on search-and-rescue (SAR). The podcast included interviews with Beckie Stanevich, human half of the first team to receive the AKC’s new title in the field of urban search-and-rescue, and Dr. Cindy Otto who founded The Penn Vet Working Dog Center. The podcast also featured a search-and-rescue dog from the Ramapo Search and Rescue Association in New Jersey in action during a training exercise and simulated rescue. Listen to the podcast.

AKC Family Dog, a magazine geared toward all dog lovers that features expert advice on behavior, training, grooming, and health was a winner for Best Magazine.
