AKC is pleased to announce that more than one hundred legislators from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are sharing their commitment to responsible dog ownership this month by serving as honorary chairs for the Meet the Breeds™ event hosted by the American Kennel Club and Westminster Kennel Club.

The Meet the Breeds event celebrates responsible dog ownership and features the opportunity for the public to personally meet and learn about more than 135 different breeds of dogs from nationally-recognized breed experts. The popular annual event takes place on Saturday, February 13 at Piers 92 and 94 in New York City. Many of the dogs on hand will also be participating in the famous Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Monday and Tuesday, February 15 and 16.

Check out the full list of Honorary Chairs here. Many have shared photos of themselves with dogs, which will be posted on the AKC Facebook page.

If any of your lawmakers are an Honorary Chair, please take a moment to thank them for their involvement in the event and let them know that you also support responsible pet ownership in your community.

If you are coming to the event, stop by the AKC Government Relations Booth (Booth 258) to say hello and learn more about how you can join us in advocating for responsible dog ownership and positive dog laws in your community. For more information on the event visit www.akc.org/meet-the-breeds.
