AKC Supports NCSU Dog Olympics
The American Kennel Club joined in the festivities at the N.C. State University's 18th annual Dog Olympics.
The NCSU School of Veterinary Medicine organizes the event that took place Oct. 3 in Moore Square in the heart of downtown Raleigh.
AKC provided an informational booth and offered Canine Good Citizen testing, resulting in 13 dogs earning CGC awards. In addition, the AKC Community Events Team organized agility demonstrations with a variety of breeds participating, ranging from Boston Terrier to Rottweiler.
The Raleigh Kennel Club held an AKC Companion Animal Recovery microchip clinic. Fifty-one dogs received chips at the event at no charge, thanks to the generosity of the Raleigh Kennel Club. It is the seventh year that the Raleigh club has worked with NCSU to provide the free clinic.
NCSU students and faculty organized and staffed other events and games for dogs, including doggie limbo, musical sit, best pet trick, disc toss, doggie high jump and howling contest.
