New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is holding a public hearing on Tuesday, December 23 prior to the possible signing of a number of measures. The agenda includes the legislation recently passed by the New York City Council that would, among other provisions, require all pet shops to sterilize dogs prior to sale- regardless of the dog’s age or health. Pet shops would also be prohibited from obtaining dogs from Class B dealers, even if the dealers are determined to be humane.

New York City residents and pet sellers are encouraged to contact Mayor de Blasio and ask him to support the health and wellbeing of dogs by vetoing Files 136 and 55.

The mayor may be contacted online here.
