As part of our efforts to protect the rights of responsible dog owners and breeders, the American Kennel Club is continuing its daily communication with North Carolina legislators. We have been told that thanks to overwhelming response from the purebred dog fancy, lawmakers have been made aware of our opposition to proposed breeding restrictions and are strongly considering our concerns.
Members of the House Interim Committee on the Prevention and Disposition of Unwanted and Abandoned Companion Animals now recognize the fancy's strength and unified voice. They have asked us to cease our e-mails, faxes and phone calls so they can perform their daily work. We understand and respect this request and thank the fancy for doing the same.
We greatly appreciate the fancy's time and efforts on this issue, and we strongly urge concerned dog owners to remain poised and ready for action. The Canine Legislation department will continue to post frequent updates on this issue as they become available.
